Hi, We are Emily and John Askin!
Ware the broker/owners of RE/MAX At Home and RE/MAX Preferred here in the Oklahoma City Metro. And we wanted to share our story with you today. We have been happily married now for 13 years, and we have been working together in the real estate business for over 15 years. And when we originally started in the real estate business, we were at an independent brokerage where we didn’t know much at the time. And there also wasn’t much learning happening at the same time either. There wasn’t much leadership and there wasn’t much education or training. As we grew in our business and also in our personal life, we knew that we wanted more. We started our own independent brokerage back in 2015. And at this time we had been married and we also had a little boy who was joining us on this journey.
We started our independent brokerage in 2015 and we knew we wanted to grow. And we knew we wanted to offer certain things to agents, only because we have been agents ourselves where we were working with buyers and sellers. And we had been in the trenches, the ins and the outs and the ups and downs of the business. We knew what we wanted and what we felt was important to help agents grow, based off of just what our needs were. But at the same time, we were doing this while we were also raising a family, which threw in different obstacles and challenges for us along the way. With all of that, we knew that we needed to also come up with different systems, too. And that’s what led us to the RE/MAX brand.
In 2017, we purchased our first RE/MAX office, which is currently our Edmond office. We chose RE/MAX when we had the option to choosing any major brand or any other independent office because of the systems that they had. RE/MAX was not only the most recognized name in real estate, but they had some of the best tools, technology, and of course the brand name. For us, it was something that we wanted to bring a fresh look, a fresh start to the RE/MAX brand in the Metro. Over the years, the brand had changed to what it was here locally and we wanted to come in and rejuvenate that, we wanted to bring a fresh feel.
A fresh vibe. And I wouldn’t say just even the brand, I would say just the real estate industry in general had aged a bit for lack of better term. We knew that we wanted to be able to bring a younger, fresher vibe to it, just because there was a lot of young professionals coming into the industry with families. We knew based off of what our needs were, that there were other real estate agents out there who probably had the similar needs as well. That’s what attracted us to the RE/MAX brand was the education, the tools, and then the systems in place that would allow for not only us, but for the agents, to have flexibility and time with their family.
